The surgeons at Utah Surgical Arts are uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma. Since all of the doctors have both a dental degree and a medical degree, they are able to effectively evaluate facial bone fractures and the oral cavity/dentition to devise a optimal treatment plan. Which will allow for return of function and esthetics. There are a number of possible causes of facial trauma. The most common are motor vehicle accidents, falls, sports injuries, work related injuries and violence. Since there are many sources of facial trauma, there are several types of facial trauma. Soft tissue injuries to the face consist of lacerations, damage to nerves, blood vessels, and salivary glands. Hard tissue injuries to the face consist of fractures of the bones of the face (cheek, nose, eye socket), fractured jaws (upper and lower jaw) and to the dentition (teeth). Due to the advances in surgical technology many facial fractures can be repaired through minimal incisions. Also the bones can be reduced into there proper place by using small plates and screws, this is known as rigid fixation. By using rigid fixation many individuals who suffer facial trauma do not require to have their mouth wired closed for several weeks. Instead they will be able to continue to have relatively normal oral function during the healing process. The surgeons at Utah Surgical Arts are well trained in the area of facial trauma.
At the request of my sister, I decided to have Utah Surgical Arts give me a new, stronger chin. Never being one to really criticize my own chin, at first I was skeptical about how it would turn out. The surgery was fast, Dr Park was great, the recovery was as expected. Looking back after, I'm glad I made the decision to go through with it, my new chin adds adds more confidence to my profile. Dr Park was fantastic to work with both before and after the surgery, and the staff was caring and terrific.
