Procedures - Oral Pathology

Diagnosing oral-facial pathology is an integral component of an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. When a patient presents with a suspicious lesion, a tissue biopsy can be performed. As well as a radiological evaluation and blood tests can be ordered to properly diagnose the condition. Early diagnosis and treatment greatly increases your prognosis. There are several warning signs for a pathological process.

Red or white patches in the mouth
A sore that does not appear to heal properly or bleeds easily
A lump on the skin lining the inside of the mouth
Constant sore throat or hoarseness
Difficulty in chewing or swallowing
