The Proven, Healthy Solution for Missing Teeth

At Utah Surgical Arts, our oral surgeons restore oral function while producing beautiful aesthetic results for patients through the placement of dental implants. We achieve these results by surgically placing a small medical-grade titanium post directly into the jaw bone, which becomes the new replacement root to support the prosthetic crown. Medical-grade titanium does not corrode and has a high success rate of integrating with the surrounding bone in the jaw. This provides the strongest foundation possible and, in turn, the healthiest tooth replacement solution available.

We have several offices located in Utah, and you will find our Payson office just off UT-198, north of Spring Lake. For an unparalleled patient experience delivered by a team you can trust, we invite you to contact our Payson office for a consultation with Dr. Harris, Dr. Park, Dr. Brown, Dr. Wood, or Dr. Holladay.

Types of Dental Implants

  • Single Implants. One dental implant can restore one missing tooth. It is strong enough to replace molars, canine teeth, or front teeth.
  • Implant-Supported Bridge. When multiple teeth are missing beside each other, a dental implant can be placed to support a bridge. This prevents having to grind down natural teeth to fit the bridge.
  • Same-Day Dental Implants. If you are having a tooth extracted and have enough jaw bone to support an implant, we can place an implant on the same day as the extraction.
  • All-on-4® Treatment Concept. Four implant posts are inserted into one or both arches and support a fixed denture. This treatment completely restores your smile’s function and appearance.

Zirconia Implants

Standard dental implants are made of medical-grade titanium. Our practice offers a metal-free alternative to titanium: zirconia, or ceramic, implants. Zirconia implants have all of the advantages of a titanium implant, meaning that they are a long-lasting, natural-looking tooth replacement option. Zirconia implants are ideal for patients with allergies to titanium or who seek an alternative to metal implants. By giving our patients more options, we make it possible for more people to achieve a healthy and complete smile. For questions about zirconia implants or to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors, please contact our Payson, UT, office.

Are Dental Implants Right for You?

Dental implants in South Jordan, Provo, Payson, and Lehi, Utah

Most patients with a missing tooth or teeth are eligible to receive dental implants.

Implant-based tooth restoration is ideal for anyone in need of a new tooth. If a tooth has been missing for a while, the jaw bone has likely weakened underneath. Thanks to bone grafting methods, our surgeons can place a graft where new bone is needed and, once healed, patients who have suffered from bone loss can now receive dental implants.

Dental implants and/or the All-on-4 treatment concept may not be right for you if:

  • You smoke tobacco products.
  • You are under the age of 18, as the jaw bone has not yet fully developed.
  • You suffer from gum disease, severe bone loss, tooth decay, or other oral health conditions which must be addressed prior to receiving implants.

Our team will discuss your personal conditions and options during your initial consultation, including existing medical conditions. Contact our Payson office today to schedule your appointment.

Dental Implant Process at Utah Surgical Arts

At your consultation appointment, we will take CBCT scans of your mouth and discuss your treatment options. We will help select the form of anesthesia that is right for your surgery complexity and anxiety needs.

The entire dental implant surgery process is usually completed in approximately 6 months. During surgery, your surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue and place the implant post. After the first procedure, the post bonds with the jaw bone beneath the surface of the gums, which usually takes 3 to 6 months. During this time, your restorative dentist will create your custom crown. Once healed, your dentist will attach the crown to the implant post and you can enjoy your new, secure replacement tooth.

Dental implant technology is expanding rapidly. We continuously invest in the most advanced technology, and as a result, we can provide more people the opportunity to receive this treatment. At our practice, our team routinely plans your treatment utilizing Cone Beam CT technology to create a 3D image of your facial bone structure. Surgical models create a guide so that we can accurately place the implants with predictable results.

Dental Implant Cost and Value

At Utah Surgical Arts, our fees are often much lower than the fees of general dentists, and we are providers for all major dental plans. The cost of your dental implant surgery will depend on how many implants you need, if you require bone grafts, your choice of anesthesia, and your insurance. Our front desk staff is very knowledgeable in these factors and will provide you with a cost estimate upfront. If you have any questions or would like to set up a consultation, please call one of our offices.

Removable dentures may be cheaper upfront, but they can lead to costly bone repair surgeries and other oral health problems down the road. Dentures and bridges sit on top of the bony ridge and do not prevent jaw bone atrophy, whereas dental implants provide the jaw bone with necessary stimulation to keep it strong. You must replace dentures every few years, and if not professionally fitted, they can cause oral sores. With dental implants, you can focus on eating, smiling, and laughing without worrying about moving parts or uncomfortable oral appliances.

AAAHC Accreditation

Utah Surgical Arts is approved by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This accreditation is difficult to obtain and allows our office to function as a hospital and/or surgical center. Since extensive surgeries must be performed in a surgical center, there are many instances where the patient may be unable to undergo surgery due to the high cost of the hospital or surgical center. If your surgery can be performed at Utah Surgical Arts, the cost savings may be significant. Many patients who were unable to have the procedure due to the high cost involved were able to have the procedure performed at Utah Surgical Arts.

Denture Replacement With Dental Implants

If you wear dentures, you may find them to be uncomfortable and wish there was a more convenient, long-term solution. Our surgeons are proud to offer the All-on-4® treatment concept, which can replace your dentures and provide you with a healthy smile that looks and feels natural. You can replace dentures in one or both arches, and even replace partial dentures with an implant-supported bridge.

By replacing your dentures with dental implants, you enjoy all the health benefits of implants such as jaw bone loss prevention and preservation of facial structure. Dental implants restore your oral function, so you can enjoy your favorite foods without worrying about moving pieces. If properly cared for, your implant-supported prosthesis can last for a lifetime. Contact us today to learn about denture replacement in Payson, UT.

"I had a bad tooth. It was really old. They pulled the tooth, and they gave me the implant here at the Surgical Arts center. It feels like a natural tooth. The people here in this office — the doctors and the nurses — were like family. They were just very warm, friendly. They put my mind at ease, told me what they were doing, which was very important. Dr. Harris — I feel like I've known him forever. As a matter of fact, when I left the office, I said, "I'm going to miss you guys.""

Frequently Asked Questions

Are permanent dentures the same as dental implants?

Full-arch restoration uses dental implants to secure a fixed denture in one or both arches. Our practice uses the All-on-4 treatment concept, developed by Nobel Biocare, which involves placing four implant posts and attaching a prosthesis. These fixed dentures provide the same health benefits as single dental implants and are not taken out during eating and brushing, contrary to removable dentures.

Can dental implants be done in a day?

Immediate or same-day dental implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth extraction, provided there is enough jaw bone. This reduces the number of visits needed to replace the tooth.

How many days do I need off work/school for dental implant surgery?

Most patients return to their normal routines 1–2 days following surgery. The surgical site(s) take about 2 weeks to heal, but you can return to work or school in a day or two.

Do they put you to sleep for dental implants?

We administer IV sedation for most implant placements, which renders patients into a sleep-like state. Same-day implants may only require local anesthetic to numb the surgical area. We will discuss your options with you prior to any surgical procedure and determine the right choice for your needs.
